The Megazord (retroactively referred to as the Dino Megazord, Mighty Morphin' Megazord or the Original Megazord) is the combination of the five Dinozords: Tyrannosaurus, Mastodon, Triceratops, Sabertooth Tiger, and Pterodactyl. This is the first Megazord to be featured in Power Rangers, but within the chronology of the series may have been preceded by other Zord combinations in the distant past.

Tyrannosaurus Dinozord

Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger, piloted the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord. Forming the head and torso, the Tyrannosaurus was the mightiest of all Dinozords, sometimes acting alone in combat, when it could use its tail and jaws as weapons. It had the ability to fire energy blasts from its eyes. It could also roar so strongly that it created seismic blasts, channeling the Earth as a weapon and vaporizing monsters. It could also stand on his tail and kick his opponent like a kangaroo. The Tyrannosaurus remained underground while not in use, and could be remote-controlled by Jason should he need to pilot the Dragonzord in its Battle Mode.

When it was destroyed, what remains of it were made into the Tyrannosaurus Red Dragon Thunderzord, and so it aided the Red Ranger in battle in a new form.

Mastodon Dinozord

Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger, piloted the Mastodon Dinozord. Its body formed the back and arms of the Megazord and Dragonzord Battle Mode. The head could be utilized as a shield. Alone it could fire frigid blasts of cold air & mist at enemies, temporarily freezing them. Its hiding place was in the deep Arctic.

When it was destroyed, what remains of it were made into the Mastodon Lion Thunderzord, and so it aided the Black Ranger in battle in a new form.

Pterodactyl Dinozord

Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, piloted the Pterodactyl Dinozord. It formed the chestplate of the Megazord, She could fire twin lasers when used individually, which looked like lightning. This was the only Dinozord with flight capability. It remained submerged in a volcano for hiding purposes.

When it was destroyed, what remains of it were made into the Pterodactyl Firebird Thunderzord, and so it aided the Pink Ranger in battle in a new form.

Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger, piloted the Sabertooth Tiger Dinozord. Forming the right leg, it could shoot a large yellow laser out of a tail cannon, similar to the triceratops however he could also attack using its teeth. This Zord was by far the fastest, running as transportation. Its hiding place was in the deep Jungle.

When it was destroyed, what remains of it were made into the Sabertooth Tiger Griffin Thunderzord, and so it aided the Yellow Ranger in battle in a new form.

When it was destroyed, what remains of it were made into the Triceratops Unicorn Thunderzord, and so it aided the Blue Ranger in battle in a new form.

Megazord Battle Mode

The Rangers could initiate transformation into the Dino Megazord's Battle Mode. This usually began with a computerized voice stating "Megazord sequence has been initiated," concluding with "Megazord activated!" after the reconnection of Pterodactyl Zord, the head crests sliding into position. In this mode, Dino Megazord features fewer ranged energy weapons, compensating with far greater close combat potential. It is able to fire energy beams from its eyes as well as fire the cannons on its back in defence.

The Red Ranger's chair is the command console for the entire Megazord, but some of the other Rangers seem to have roles too. In "Fowl Play", Zack uses the Megazord's Cranial Laser against the Peckster, and in several episodes Jason asks Zack to divert more power to him, suggesting the Black Ranger may control auxiliary weapons. In "An Oyster Stew", Jason directs Kimberly to send a communication signal to Tommy, which may mean the Pink Ranger controls communication equipment. In the episode “No Clowning Around”, The Blue Ranger apparently ran scans that suggested they could destroy the Pineoctopus with a “multi phase energy blast” which suggests that he runs the scanners. The special function of the Yellow Ranger, if any, is unknown.

Cranial Laser

A rarely used weapon mounted on top of the Dino Megazord's head, the Cranial Laser is an extremely powerful ranged weapon used to finish off Monsters. After collecting energy within its forehead crest, the Dino Megazord focuses a lethal stream of energy into the ground, which travels towards the monster, destroying them upon contact. While powerful, this weapon forces the Dino Megazord into a stationary position in order to focus the attack.

Mastodon Shield

The head of the Mastodon Zord could also be utilized as a shield to complement the Power Sword, only used twice. It was first used in Green With Evil Part 2, the 'Mastodon Shield reflected the Green Ranger's energy blast back at him and used for the only other time in Fowl Play, Jason summoned the Shield in order to protect the Megazord from the Peckster's beak.

Power Sword

When a monster needed to be destroyed, any Power Ranger (usually the Red Ranger) would summon the Power Sword. Descending from the sky, the sword would embed itself into the ground nearby, or on some occasions be caught directly by the Dino Megazord. The Power Sword not only gave the Dino Megazord an advantage in battle, but could be used as a substitute power supply when the main sources were unavailable. The Dino Megazord's Power Sword allowed it to perform its most powerful finisher move:the Megazord infusing the Power Sword with red crackling energy before executing a powerful slash, throwing an energy wave into the target. This energy usually resulted in the explosive destruction of whatever monster it struck. The Dino Megazord with its Power Sword destroyed a total of 20 giant Monsters by season's end, excluding the pilot episode.

This move had three variations - first a vertical diagonal slash from top left corner to bottom right (the most commonly used one), second an upward vertical slash from the bottom left corner to top right corner, and third a horizontal slash from left to right.

Transformation Sequence

In Megazord Tank Mode, the Tyrannosaurus Zord becomes the central component, with the Triceratops Zord and Saber Tooth Tiger Zord becoming the treads. The Mastodon Zord forms the cannons while the Pterodactyl Zord mounts onto the back. In Battle Mode, the Megazord stands up from its Tank Mode formation, with the treads becoming the legs and the cannons becoming the arms. The Pterodactyl Zord relocates to the chest, while the Tyrannosaurus Zord's head lowers to reveal its head. The cannons mounted on the Mastadon Zord relocate to its back, followed the Tyrannosaurus Zord's tail folding into place.

Megazord Tank Mode

An even greater weapon against evil, the Dino Megazord is a powerful amalgam of the 5 Dinozords. It had two stages: Tank Mode and Battle Mode. Dino Megazord Tank Mode traveled on treads and wheels from the Triceratops and Sabretooth Tiger Zords respectively. Armed with a pair of main cannons derived from Mastodon, Tyrannosaurus formed the central body around which all the other components connected, with Pterodactyl riding on top. In addition to the large cannons, the tank could also fire directed energy beams from the eyes of all the Dinozords using the Rangers' Power Crystals. Despite being impressively shielded and well-armed, the utility of this formation was limited, especially in combat with agile, moving targets. The tank formation of the Dinozords was usually only a brief transitional step in the sequence of forming Dino Megazord, rarely used for prolonged battle.

Very rarely, the Dinozords will bypass the Tank Mode altogether, combining immediately into the Battle Mode.

One of the best aspects of the San Diego Comic Convention is the overwhelming assortment of exclusives made available to attendees. The 2009 exclusive, which was available during the show from July 22-July 26.

April's name itself came from Kevin's real-life girlfriend at the time who was named April, and I heard  she was black , although I could be wrong here. When it was mentioned to Laird, he basically said Kevin was lying. That April was always meant to be a caucasian redhead (hence the Irish last name). April appearance was changed in the comics compared to the real life April. I don't know the real story, I guess we'll find out sooner or later. It does not matter to me she is still a cool character.

Top Back

In the original Mirage Comics storyline for Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, April O'Neil (who originally sported a jumpsuit) was a skilled computer programmer and started out as an assistant for the villainous scientist Baxter Stockman. April O'Neil already proved in her teens a flair for computers and was a clever hacker. At the age of 27 years, her work began life as a laboratory assistant to Baxter Stockman, to which she helped program his Mouser robots, but when she discovered that Baxter was using his Mousers to burrow into bank vaults and steal from them, she attempted to flee Baxter's workshop and found herself in the sewers running for her life, with several Mousers in pursuit.

Three of the Turtles happened to come across her and save her and brought her back to their lair, where she would meet Splinter and found out about their origin. With her new friends, she returned to Baxter's hideout and defeated him. The Turtles later successfully fended off a Mouser invasion after Baxter programmed the Mousers to attack them. As the series went on, though their various adventures together, she became a closer friend to the Turtles and their link to the outside world. The Turtles also lived for a time with April when Splinter disappeared.

After leaving her job with Baxter, she decided to reopen her father's antique store she inherited 'Second Time Around'. During the Shredder's sudden return (What Goes Around... Comes Around!/Silent Partner/Return to New York story arcs) the shop came under attack by The Shredder and the Foot Clan (who had come for the Turtles), and was destroyed in the ensuing battle. April, the Turtles and their new friend Casey Jones had to escape to Casey's family farm house in Northampton, Massachusetts where she later had nightmares about the Foot Clan's attack.

A relationship that greatly influenced April was that with Casey Jones. Initially, the two could not stand each other, but during these events she would know Casey better and in time take a liking to him. During the mid-90s, April would live with her sister Robyn for a while during the events of City at War and find out their father died. Looking for a new place to live, she just happened to find the apartment Casey was living in. Eventually she'd marry Casey and they'd raise his adopted daughter Shadow Jones together as a family.

Trini Kwan

Working out at Ernie's Juice Bar & Gym along with her friends. Suddenly the ground began to shake and Trini and her friends were transported to the Command Center. There awaited quite the sight, a blue head floating inside an energy tube. And even more incredibly, this being called Zordon, had selected them to become Power Rangers. Kimberly and Zack blew Zordon off, but Trini, Billy and Jason lingered.

Back of Card

One of Trini's pet causes was the environment. She was always heading up drives to clean up the environment. Not only did Trini clean-up parks, but she also planted seeds for future trees as well. Trini was also involved in the Big Sister program which she did for her little cousin. Trini loves animals as well, trying to help strays find a home. Trini enjoyed life and made time to have fun. She had a wonderful doll collection, which Rita actually used one as monster. Trini liked to host food festivals; she enjoyed the picnics, carnival, concerts, masquerade balls, talent contests, dances and the beach. Trini was a big help behind the scenes of any school theatrical production

Trini enjoyed various athletic venues. Not only did she work on her martial arts, but enjoyed volleyball, scuba diving, mountain motor biking and basketball as well. During a sporting event at school, Trini helped her team win the Noble Lion Trophy. Trini was always up for the challenge of learning new skills. She took on the task of learning the style of the Mantis Kung Fu with her complete concentration.

Changes on the horizon for Trini. A world teen summit was coming to Angel Grove and was going to select three teens from Angel Grove to attend the world Peace Summit in Switzerland. Trini, along with Jason and Zack, was selected to attend. Trini had served the Rangers well and, with Zordon's blessing, she transferred her power to Aisha Campbell and left for the world Peace Summit.
