NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

 

One of my all time favourite cartoon/comic when I was a kid and still is my favourite. These NECA action figures of the TMNT are super detailed based on the original comic of Eastman and Laird. Unfortunately I had to get rid of these figure for certain reason at the time. But I still have a the set of four still mint in package. I hope they re-realise these figures. I didn't take as many photos as I would like. I taken these photos around 2008

Mirage Eastman And Laird

TMNT originated from a comical drawing sketched out by Kevin Eastman during a casual evening of brainstorming with his friend Peter Laird. The drawing of a short, squat turtle wearing a mask with nunchakus strapped to its arms was humorous to the young artists, as it played upon the inherent contradiction of a slow, cold-blooded reptile with the speed and agility of Japanese martial arts. Laird suggested that they create a team of four such turtles, each specialising in a different weapon. Eastman and Laird often cited the work of Frank Miller and Jack Kirby as their major artistic influences.

Raphael/Ralph , a fictional character, is one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT). His bandanna is red (his favourite colour) and he carries two sai. He is usually depicted as being aggressive, sullen, and rebellious. He is arguably the strongest and one of the best fighters of the turtles. He is named after Raphael Sanzio, the Renaissance painter.

The origin of Raphael's anger is not always fully explored, but in some incarnations appears to stem partly from the realisation that they are the only creatures of their kind and ultimately alone. He also has a somewhat turbulent relationship with his brother Leonardo because he is the de facto group leader. He is generally the most likely to experience extremes of emotion.






















In the early black-and-white Mirage Comics, Raphael was the most violent turtle and had a tendency for going berserk either in battle or when his temper flared up. He has a somewhat cynical and sarcastic sense of humour.

Raphael mellowed a little as the series went on, A key moment for his character  was when he allowed Leonardo to go in alone to defeat The Shredder after nearly being killed by the Foot Elite. Since then, he has been less likely to challenge Leonardo's leadership, and on the whole is more friendly towards his family and allies.

Raphael is actually closest to Michelangelo, having stated this in the fourth issue of the original TMNT comics. Raphael often shows a caring, more laid-back, side of himself when around his youngest brother, regularly indulging the younger turtle emotionally when at home and  protecting him from harm when in battle. Raphael  admits that the mere thought of his youngest brother being intensely injured causes him to experience violent rage.

 As the Nightwatcher, Raphael uses a different ninjitsu weapon, the manriki: weighted chains that can be concealed in the hands and used from considerable distances. Unlike his sai, the manriki are typically not lethal weapons, though they could crush a skull an bones if used with enough force.
