The Veritech Alpha Fighter is Earth's premier third-generation transformable fighter, serving the Expeditionary Forces through its mission in deep space and the reclamation missions to Earth. The fighter is fully space-capable, and is carried in great numbers on the Ikazuchi-class cruiser.

However, the limited fuel tankage of this craft gives it short legs in space, a deficiency that led to the development of the Beta Fighter, to which this mecha can attach. In addition, the Alpha can not reach suborbital altitudes on its own, and also required the Beta for this.

The Alpha also shines in atmospheric operations, where its small size and large thrust to weight ratio makes it a nimble and elusive target. This is made possible by two powerful main engines in the legs, powerful secondary engines in the forearms, and a dedicated VTOL thruster on the underside of the fuselage.

Introduced late in the 3rd Robotech War, the -Z variant, often painted red, and optimized for atmospheric operations, was distinct in the thick dorsal stabilizer on its head. Beyond the obvious change, the -Z was outfitted with more powerful engines, and was a more capable fighter in all modes and at all altitudes. It was expected that this fighter would become the standard variant late in the 3rd Robotech War, but this was superceded by the Shadowfighter, which did not incorporate the improved engines.

Field Commander of the Veritech Fighter Squadrons

Robotech was one of my all time favourites cartoons when I was a kid. The story line was very unique for me compared to other cartoons at the time. Unlike Transformers that are sentient beings, these mecha you can fly and transform. What was even more cool for me is that they could even transform in three modes (Fighter, Guardian,Battloid). It was like you can be a Transformer yourself.

Roy Fokker - Ace Fighter Pilot

The leader of the veritech fighter squadrons attached to the SDF-1, Roy Fokker was the premier fighter pilot in the Robotech Defense Force. Fokker first gained fame by shooting down 108 enemy planes during the Global War and subsequent conflicts. Fokker was called back to duty by Admiral Donald Hayes and became the top test pilot for Project Valkyrie, which led to the creation of the transformable veritech fighter. As commander of the renowned Skull Squadron, Roy maintained his reputation among his fellow pilots, as his squadron earned distinction in battle after battle with the Zentraedi forces.

From an early age, Roy had a strong love of flying. His father Dan Fokker was a close friend and squadron mate of Mitchell Hunter during the final years of the Vietnam War. Dan was later killed in a classified mission for the Navy, and Mitchell Hunter assumed guardianship of Roy. From then on, Roy grew up with Hunter and his young son Rick and flew for their Flying Circus aerobatic team. The two boys grew very close. That relationship is severely tested when Roy leaves the Flying Circus to fight in the Global War, and later joins the Veritech development project on Macross Island.

Roy inherited many of his father's daredevil aspects, including a cavalier attitude towards women. A playboy for much of his early flying career, his life is changed when he meets a young air control officer named Claudia Grant.

Roy tries to mend his relationship with young Rick Hunter by inviting him to the launch of the SDF-1 on Macross Island. When the First Robotech War breaks out, Roy influences Rick to join the Robotech forces and follow in his footsteps as a fighter pilot. A truly inspirational figure, Roy becomes a mentor to Rick and has leaves a lasting impression on many members of the Robotech Defense Force.

Heroic commander of the famed "Skull Squadron" assigned the monumental task of defending SDF-1. He is the classic definition of a hero. He is also able to transcend his heroic mold to be human and compassionate. He likes to tease his friends especially Rick Hunter, and create a feeling of general camaraderie. His raw courage and skill as a fighter pilot is matched only by Maximillian Sterling.

TOY HAUL: ROBOTECH Invid Shock Trooper

ROBOTECH Invid Shock Trooper

This is just one of many Invid Shock Trooper I had in my collection. I notice my studio was getting a little pack with figures so I decided to let this one go. Little sad to see it go but it was just collecting dust.

This figure was opened but never cut from it's inside packaging. It also had the original instruction and also some stickers. On the good side I still have two of the Invid Shock Trooper figures but loose, not in there box. A lot more fun. Here are a few pick of the figure before I parted with it.
