Transformers Classics Mirage

Transformers Classics Mirage

Mirage G1 Transformers Series

I was really late in purchasing Mirage. I bought him used and he had some Repolabels. I took off the rear spoiler sticker off because I like the Witwicky Sparkplugs on there. I had him before new in package but sold him later on. I realised how awesome this line of Transformers are and I started collecting again. This line really gives you a G1 feel with an updated look. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Back of Mirage Classics Package:

Together with Bumblebee , Mirage completes the Autobot spy team. Where BUMBLEBEE focuses on information however, Mirage prefers sabotage. Smart and fast, he's always ready with a joke, even when the situation doesn't call for one. Though he is not totally dedicated to the cause, he cares deeply for his friends, and will do anything he can to protect them. His specialized electro-disruptor weapon can create complex illusions, and even allows him to turn invisible.

Mirage - Saboteur

Some might say that Mirage was created with a silver sparkplug in his mouth. On Cybertron, he was one of the planet's elite upper class, preferring to spend his days hunting turbo-foxes instead of involving himself in conflict. When that became unavoidable, Mirage enlisted with the Autobot forces, although he is often unsure about his motivations for doing so, which leaves his fellow Autobots finding it hard to trust him – a problem not helped by the fact that Mirage can rarely hide that he is often unwilling to fight directly, or his contempt for the "commoners" he is now forced to interact with. He has no lost love for Earth, and would happily return to his old life on Cybertron if he could.

Transformers - Mirage

Mirage is what humans call "old money." Before the war, he was a member of affluent Cybertronian society, with his own large estate and high-priced friends. He enjoyed the finer things in life: vintage energon, swank evening events, and turbofox hunts on the grounds. But when the war started, he was forced to choose sides and found himself banded with a group of commoners he didn't really understand.

Mirage - 26 elf

Some of the other Autobots don't trust Mirage. He feels the war, even after all these millions of years, is beneath him. War is not, after all, how civilized, erudite beings conduct themselves. He often questions the Autobots' violent means, and not-so-secretly hopes they and the Decepticons can get along. Because of this, he has been labelled by a few others as a Decepticon sympathizer. Still, he sided with the Autobots for a reason, and he is there for the Autobots when they need him.

Ironic that, given his unwillingness to fight, Mirage is a superior hand-to-hand combatant, and a skilled sharpshooter, having honed his talents hunting game on Cybertron. He is armed with a rifle which fires explosive, armor-piercing darts, but the most important piece of his arsenal in his function as a spy is his shoulder-mounted electro-disruptor, which can bend photons to make Mirage invisible, or appear to be where he is not, or even alter his physical appearance, hence his name.

Alt Mode

Mirage transforms into a Ligier JS11-Ford Formula One racing car, which is the origin for his Japanese name. He bears the racing number 26 – denoting the vehicle as that which was driven by Jacques Laffite in the 1980 season – and sponsorship logos for "Citanes", a reference to the cigarette company, Gitanes.

The original racecar was sponsored by Gitanes tobacco, but due to laws concerning tobacco advertising on children's toys, the livery was slightly altered to "Citanes".

Mirage and Sparkplug Witwicky

Instead of having advertisements from Ligier on it, this Mirage advertised Witwicky Sparkplugs on his spoiler, a reference to the human character from the original Transformers animated series, Sparkplug Witwicky.

Mirage was part of Optimus Prime's crew aboard the Ark and was therefore present for the early years of the Autobot-Decepticon conflict on Earth. Often putting his invisibility ability to work, he was key in defeating the Decepticons in some of their most important encounters, including bringing down their massive star cruiser. Contrary to popular opinion, Mirage was definitely not a traitor.

Mirage and Spike Witwicky

Although the details vary by continuity, Mirage has the ability to create illusions which typically either render him invisible or make him appear to be somewhere he isn't.
